Philadelphia Union of the United States has launched a special version of the Philadelphia Union pre-match jersey with camouflage patterns to pay tribute to the U.S. military. This will be worn during the pre-match warm-up with Houston Dynamo on August 11, local time.
The match between Philadelphia Union and Houston Dynamo will be named “Military Appreciation Night” (Military Thanksgiving Night). The team will wear the warm-up jersey with a camouflage pattern.
Considering the precedent of all MLS teams wearing “Independence Day” and “Pride” special pre-match warm-up jersey, I believe that this special version jersey with camouflage pattern will also be extended to other MLS teams.
In addition to wearing this special pre-match warm-up jersey, Philadelphia Union and the United States Labor Organization (USO) also joined hands in an out-of-print soccer game called “Battle of the Branches”.
The Five-man Soccer Tournament invites all active and veterans in Philadelphia and their relatives to join the team. The club and USO will represent the team to donate money to the battleship New Jersey anchored in Philadelphia. The winning team will win the special pre-match training Philadelphia Union jersey and tickets for the team’s game with Houston Dynamo.
